The House creators are wasting no time trying to replace the void left by exiting show-runner Lisa Edelstein. In the wake of the former series regular's surprising decision to walk away from the hit medical drama, producers have brought two new women on board.
A few weeks ago, it was announced that Breaking In's Odette Annable would be joining the cranky doc's diagnostic team, and now news has broken that there will be even more girl power headed to Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital.
According to Deadline, the Hugh Laurie-led drama cast Knocked Up actress and comedian Charlyne Yi to the team that already includes Omar Epps, Jesse Spencer and Peter Jacobsen.
TV Line says that Yi, who also starred with one-time boyfriend Michael Cera in Paper Heart, is joining the life-saving team on a series-regular basis in the place of Amber Tamblyn's med school character.
Annable, on the other hand, is set to take the place of resident babe Olivia Wilde, whose busy Hollywood agenda is only going to allow her to be in a handful of episodes this season.
Annable is set to appear in the season premiere, and Yi will make her debut during the second episode.
Additionally, TV Line's Michael Ausiello reported that the big shoes left by Edelstein will be filled by someone fans have already gotten to know and made a list of possible future Deans of Medicine, including Robert Sean Leonard's Dr. James Wilson and Chi McBride's season one antagonist Edward Vogler.
House returns for its eighth season October 3.
