Howard Stern is being considered to replace Piers Morgan on America’s Got Talent.
Simon Cowell, the show’s creator and executive producer, confirmed that he is considering Stern to sit alongside judges Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne, although the final decision is not his.
“There’s a lot of people who make decisions on this stuff. Money’s got to work, schedules got to work. There might be a few twists and turns still,” Cowell said.
Stern is reportedly asking for a yearly salary of $20 million. Cowell said that those concerns were up to NBC, the show’s network. He added that he’d be willing to move the show to New York in order to accommodate Stern and his radio show. Talent is filmed in Los Angeles and a move to New York would cost another $10 million. It is also unknown if Mandel and Osbourne would be willing to move to New York. This could open the possibility of Stern becoming a part-time judge on the show.
“I like change,” Cowell said. “Whatever’s right for the show, we’ll do.”
Morgan left the show in November, after six seasons, to focus on his CNN show, Piers Morgan Tonight, as well as the upcoming 2012 presidential election.
