Hugh Jackman Has Many Plans
Hugh Jackman may still be enjoying his Wolverine box office success as it has made $163 million in the U.S., but that hasn't stopped him from looking to the future.
The first, obvious, plan is a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, since many fans did go to the theater and watch Jackman carry an action film himself as the clawed superhero. One of the "after-the-credits-endings" of Wolverine had Jackman sitting in a Japanese bar, which reportedly hints to the next film's focus: Wolverine's samurai history from the original comics. According to Entertainment Weekly, the sequel is already in production under Seed Productions.
Personal Security will star Jackman as a New York detective who is forced into a bodyguard role for a rich, spoiled teen.
Another film on Jackman's horizon is Drive, based on a James Sallis novel about a man who drives race cars during the day and getaway cars during the night.
According to Variety magazine, Jackman is venturing back into musicals with a reworking of the classic, Carousel. The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical has seen many versions, and Jackman will portray Billy Bigelow, a man trying to fix his mistakes after his death. Since their brief duet at this year's Academy Awards, Jackman is openly hoping Anne Hathaway joins to play his love, Julie Jordan.
Jackman also wants to hit the stage again (after winning a Tony) in a musical about the legendary Houdini, aptly titled Houdini, and Danny Elfman is writing the music.
Which new role for Jackman seems the most exciting?
