Hugo Weaving in Talks for the Role of Villain in 'Captain America'

Negotiating for the role of the Red Skull

Hugo Weaving knows how to play a good villain, but can he match up to the legendary nemesis of Captain America?

According to Heat Vision, Weaving is in talks with Marvel to play the crimson super-criminal.

Joe Johnston, director of the movie, is still looking for an actor to play Steve Rogers, the Cap's alter ego, and other cast members as well.

In the original source material, aka comics, the Red Skull was originally set against the Cap' in 1941, working as a spy and adviser for Hitler. During the fight between the two, Red Skull was buried under the rubble of a bombed building and fell into a state of suspended animation. Captain America later also freezes himself, much like the first Austin Powers movie, and they meet up in modern times to finish the fight.

The deal is still apparently at a delicate point, but will play out in a day or so. Representation Agencies have said in the past that Marvel is not easy to work with, especially because they usually demand a multi-movie commitment from actors. Usually such a stipulation is reserved for the hero role, but supporting roles in the past have been negotiated in the same fashion.
