Lionsgate has yet to release a trailer for Gary Ross’ motion picture adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games.
But the studio has unveiled a scintillating animated motion poster that is sure to whet the appetites of rabid fans who are eagerly anticipating the theatrical release of the first film in the franchise.
The poster features the signature catchphrase of announcer Claudius Templesmith, who says the following quote at the end of his commentary for each game: “May the odds be ever in your favor.”
A replica of the signature pin worn by Katniss Everdeen is displayed in the center with flames engulfing the mockingjay.
The pin serves as a token of rebellion against the establishment in the first book of the trilogy, but it evolves into a potent symbol in the last two installments, Mockingjay and Catching Fire.
While the eye-catching motion poster does not feature any of the film’s cast members, its innovative design has generated quite a bit of buzz in the hours since its release.
The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth, hits theaters March 23, 2012.
