The Hunger Games film may not be released in theaters until March 23rd but fans got a special present over the Christmas weekend. News regarding the Hunger Games soundtrack was announced. Taylor Swift, Decemberists and Win Butler & Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire, will all be featured on the Hunger Games soundtrack.
Music Mix reported that over the weekend the rest of the Hunger Games line up was settled. The soundtrack will be produced by Crazy Heart producer T-Bone Burnett.
Taylor Swift gave fans a sneak peak of her song that will be featured on the soundtrack. The single is called "Safe and Sound" and is a collaboration with the Civil Wars. The Swift song is available for live streaming on, Music Mix. The single is hauntingly beautiful and effortlessly captures the emotion from the film.
NY Daily reported that "Safe and Sound" reached number one on the iTunes charts immediately after its release.
The star of the film, Jennifer Lawrence, will also be featured on the soundtrack. Lawrence will be performing the song "Rue's Lullaby."
It seems as though Hunger Games will be taking on a similar production style to that of the Twilight saga. Twilight combined major artists with up and coming indie artists. The Hunger Games seems to be following that similar plan.
