Ice Cube to star in new drama for FX

By Robert Kirchgassner,

Actor/rapper Ice Cube has made a script development deal with the network FX for a new drama.

Born O’Shea Jackson, Ice Cube will star in and produce the drama Eye for an Eye. He will play a paramedic who decides to avenge crimes after years of contact with crime victims.

The series is one of many new series developments for FX. Other projects include work from Graham Yost (producer of Justified), Dennis Lehane and Red Hot Chili Peppers' frontman Anthony Kiedis.

He will produce the series with his partner Matt Alvarez, with whom he works at the Cube Vision production company. Other producers for the show are Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry from Prospect Park, the company which recently made an unsuccessful attempt to revive the beloved soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live online.

Ice Cube’s other upcoming projects include the crime drama Rampart, which co-stars Woody Harrelson, and the film version of the series 21 Jump Street. He also produces the TBS Are We There Yet? series, which is based on the 2005 film in which he starred as a man who agrees to babysit the children of the woman he’s fallen in love with.
