Rapper turned actor Ice-T has inked a new two-year deal to continue starring on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU.
Ice-T made the announcement on his Twitter account that he will be returning to play Detective Fin Tutuola during its 13th season and if the show is renewed, its 14th season. He has been with the show since its second season, reports Reuters.
The actor also tweeted about the status of the rest of the cast, “No one else is locked as new members of the show.”
It is uncertain who will replace Christopher Meloni, who announced in May that he will be exiting the show in the fall. Meloni has played Detective Elliot Stabler for all 12 seasons of the show.
While Ice-T’s presence on the show is assured, there are also some changes. Warren Light, an executive producer for the recently cancelled FX boxing drama Lights Out, will be replacing Neal Baer as showrunner for the series and Mariska Hargitay, who has played Detective Olivia Benson for all 12 seasons of the show, will be reducing her duties to focus her attention on the baby girl she adopted in April with her husband, Peter Hermann, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
As for what the chairman and president of NBC Entertainment, Robert Greenblatt, had to say about the show’s upcoming season, he said the network plans to “reset the tone” of the series.
