American Idol top two address their futures.

After Kris Allen overtook show favorite Adam Lambert in what People magazine called "the biggest upset in 'American Idol' history," the two stars – the winner and the runner-up – traced their burgeoning careers after Idol.

Allen aspires to sing songs with the same emotional resonance as Bill Withers' classic, "Ain't No Sunshine," hoping to move people with his music. Though he told People he is "not a man of many words," Allen does want to contribute songwriting to his albums; Allen has been writing music for six years.

Lambert has gained a following not only among fans of the show but also in the music community at large: according to MSNBC, Queen guitarist Brian May hopes to work with Lambert again – he played guitar with the singer on the Idol finale – while "I Kissed a Girl" singer Katy Perry wore a cape with Lambert's name on it when she performed on the show. Perry later gave Lambert advice on how to deal with sudden fame, reports People. Lambert revealed he wants his first album to be an amalgamation of different styles, so he can avoid being pigeonholed by his label.

No release dates have been cemented for either of the Idol stars' upcoming albums.
