'Idol' Judge May Not Return Next Season

No proposed contract has reached Paula Abdul for next season, her manager says.

It seems "American Idol" is saying farewell to Paula Abdul.

According to Entertainment Weekly, her manager, David Sonenberg, said the "Idol" judge has not yet received a new contract for next season. He said she would have been secure for the ninth season in time for auditions, which begin Aug. 6. Abdul decidedly went public with contract grievances during host Ryan Seacrest's newly-signed three-year deal that is worth $45 million.

FOX News reports that the show's production companies, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, are responsible for handing out the new contracts. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do," Sonenberg said.

Also, in comparison to Seacrest, Abul has made about $2.5 million a year, TMZ.com reports. Sonenberg said if she does not receive a proposed contract, Abdul may be starting a reality competition of her own, which she attempted to do a few years ago with Paramount but failed.
