Idol Judges Announce the Top 24 Semifinalists

In last night's "American Idol" telecast, judges narrowed the competition to the best 24 singers.

American Idol judges have trimmed the competition to 24 semifinalists.

Twelve guys and twelve gals made the cut on the final night of Hollywood week. The winners included teen singing prodigy David Archuleta, and Amanda Overmyer.

One of the biggest upsets of the night was the elimination of Josiah Leming, who seemed to be a judge favorite until his wobbly rendition of "Stand By Me." Leming said he thought he was a shoo-in to make it to the finalists' ranks.

The chosen men are: Archuleta, Colton Berry, Robbie Carrick, Jason Castro, David Cook, Chikezie Eze, Garrett Haley, David Hernandez, Luke Menard, Danny Noriega, Jason Yeager, and Michael Johns.

And the chosen ladies are: Overmyer, White, Joanne Borgella, Kristy Lee Cook, Amy Davis, Asia'h Epperson, Alexandrea Lushington, Kady Malloy, Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado, Alaina Whitaker, and Carly Smithson.
