Idol Judges Offer Helping Hand to Ousted Hopeful

Will produce a song and find a record label for Angela Martin.

After her shocking ouster one spot shy of the top 24 was broadcast, Angela Martin opened up about getting cut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

According to MSNBC, the 28-year-old singer opened up to the judge and show host, saying she had tried not to cry before meeting with the judges.

“I was preparing myself to be strong and talk to you guys, but then I saw the pictures of my daughter and I just feel apart,” Martin said, referring to a screen that showed images of Idol contenders and their families as they awaited their news.

Martin has had a rocky road with Idol; this was her third time going through the show, and the last time due to the age limit. Her first time on the show she was forced to withdraw after her father was murdered, and her second trip was stopped due to a court summons on an outstanding traffic ticket. Right before her third round, her mother was reported missing right after Christmas.

DeGeneres then revealed to Martin that there was a big surprise for her.

“Kara Dioguardi . . . she is going to write you a song, you’re going into a studio, she is going to produce a song for you. We’re gonna get you a record label,” she told Martin.
