Idol Star Clay Aiken Leaves His Record Label

Rumors have been confirmed that Clay Aiken has parted ways with RCA Records.

Billboard had first reported the rumor on Friday, after Aiken's 2008 album, On My Way Here, had only sold a disappointing 159,000 copies in the U.S., compared to the success of his debut album in 2003, Measure of a Man, which sold 2.78 million copies.

According to People magazine, Aiken's publicist, Cindi Berger, had issued a statement about the incident, on Friday. She said, "We were unable to come to terms in a recent contract negotiation, and decided that it was best to move on."

Aiken first became famous as the runner-up on the second season of American Idol.

Last month, he ended his appearance as Sir Robin on the Broadway run of Monty Python's Spamalot. Aiken said that he will use his downtime to be with his six-month-old son, Parker Foster Aiken.
