Impatient Book Worms in China Translate Harry Potter Themselves

For $2.50, Beijing citizens can buy the unauthorized version of Harry Potter's latest adventure

Chinese Harry Potter fans have taken the reigns into their own hands by translating the latest J.K. Rowling book, "Harry Potter: The Half Blood Prince" into Chinese way before the planned October launch of the Chinese-language version. The unauthorized Chinese translations were on sale in Beijing on Sunday, although some impatient fans have been posting their translations online.

At Peking University, a student who is planning on posting the last installment on the Web on August 15 was questioned if he thinks he's doing the wrong thing. "There are many Harry Potter fans across China who are unable to read the English version," Blimey, as his online name reads, told the Beijing Daily Messenger. "I did this in order to help them realize their dream of reading it in Chinese. And it's good practice for my English."

It remains to be seen if the entire country will know the book's ending before the October release date of the Chinese-language version.
