Indiana Jones Whips the Box-Office
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull may be headed for a record, and will most likely be the biggest ticket seller of the summer box-office season.
The fourth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise roped in $56 million in its first two days of release across North America, according to Paramount Pictures.
The film opened with $25 million, the fourth highest-grossing Thursday debut on record, and earned an estimated $31 million on Friday.
According to Reuters, industry observers expect the film to earn more than $150 million in its first five days in North America. The five-day record is held by Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, which earned $173 million in 2005, a week before the Memorial Day holiday.
Indiana Jones has also opened in 61 foreign countries.
