Introducing the New "Baby Spice"
Emma Bunton, better known as "Baby Spice," from the late nineties British girl group, The Spice Girls, has announced that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend of over eight years, Jade Jones. Jones was also a performer in the English boy band, Damage.
The news came as a suprise to 31-year-old Bunton, because last year she was diagnosed with endometriosis, a condition which makes it difficult for women to conceive children. Bunton and Jones posted their exciting news on Emma's website, stating,"We are so happy, it's unbelievable news! We're really looking forward to having a family together and to the rest of our lives." Bunton continued, "I guess I will be handing over the 'Baby' tag now to a deserving little owner."
Since sporting pigtails and tight pink outfits with The Spice Girls, Bunton went on to have a successful solo career in the U.K., and has recently created a limited-edition album of cover tunes featuring her version of Petula Clark's "Downtown." She also came in third on Strictly Come Dancing, the British reality contest that inspired America's Dancing with the Stars. Bunton's beau, 27-year-old Jones, had a solo career after he left Damage, as well.
Bunton will soon join her ex-bandmates as a mother. Melanie Brown, or Scary Spice, is currently with child and Eddie Murphy may be the father. Geri Halliwell also has a daughter, Bluebell Madonna, and Victoria Beckham has three sons with her soccer star husband, David Beckham. Sporty Spice, Melanie Chisholm, is the only member not procreating yet.
