Losing its #1 box office spot at home to The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is seemingly the first piece of bad news to hit Iron Man; however, its reign as king internationally still stays firm with an estimated $25.6 million in 62 territories.
The next closest international box office is Caspian, which took over the #1 box office spot. It grossed an estimated $20.7 million internationally, as well as $55.6 million stateside. Following Caspian is Iron Man, then cliched comedy What Happens in Vegas, followed by misguided bomb Speed Racer, placing highly-derivative Made of Honor staunchly in fifth.
Distributor Disney is pleased with the opening week of Caspian, publicly stating that the film's first weekend's box office was a "27 percent improvement above the first Narnia." In international receipts alone, the first Narnia grossed $420 million, making it the 18th largest film played abroad.
Iron Man has been in theaters for three weeks. To date, Iron Man has pulled in $428.5 million worldwide.
