Actor Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend, Camila Alves, rang in 2010 with the birth of their second child.
According to an article on MSNBC.com, “The couple welcomed daughter Vida Alves McConaughey at 12:13 a.m. Sunday, the actor posted on his Web site. She weighed in at 7 lbs., 7 oz, and joins big brother Levi, 17 months.”
In June 2009, 40-year-old McConaughey and 26-year-old Alves revealed the pregnancy in a blog, “We pulled off the greatest miracle in the world one more time. Camila and I are expecting our second child, bringing more life into the world, making more to live for. The future looks bright as the family grows.”
The “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” star and the Brazilian model/designer began dating in 2006 and chose not to know the sex of the baby before it was born, just as they did with their son, Levi.
As for McConaughey’s career in Hollywood, after some minor roles in the early '90s, such as in the 1993 Richard Linklater-directed dramedy, “Dazed and Confused,” McConaughey went on to star in a barrage of hit movies such as the 1996 Joel Schumacher-directed thriller, “A Time to Kill,” opposite Sandra Bullock and Samuel L. Jackson, the 1997 Robert Zemeckis-directed science fiction drama, “Contact,” opposite Jodie Foster, the 1999 Ron Howard-directed comedy, “Edtv,” opposite Jenna Elfman, Woody Harrelson, Martin Landau and Ellen DeGeneres and the 2001 romantic comedy, “The Wedding Planner,” opposite Jennifer Lopez.
