This Is It breaks pre-sale records
Although the music world is still mourning the loss of Michael Jackson, the King of Pop is still breaking records worldwide.
Pre-sale tickets for the documentary film "This Is It," chronicling Jackson's preparation for the shows in London that were going to start on July 13, are breaking records all over the U.S. According to ABC News, Sony paid $60 million for the rehearsal footage the film is composed of.
Although the film doesn't open worldwide until Oct. 28, ticket presales have begun and some screenings have already sold out. The cities with the biggest ticket sales in the U.S. include Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. In Japan, ticket sales broke a previous record by selling more than $1 million in tickets on the first day they were available.
MTV.com reported that a two-disc album featuring his new song "This Is It" will also be released in October, the day before the film premieres. The single itself will be released on Oct. 12.
