It's Conan O'Brien's birthday today

Talk show host Conan O'Brien celebrates his birthday today by turning 48. He is also a well known comedian, producer and writer. Conan was born in Massachusetts to a physician and an attorney. He is a graduate of Brookline High School and Harvard University.

While attending high school, O'Brien was responsible for editing the school newspaper. He was also a writing contest winner recognized by the National Council of Teachers of English. He also kept up his writing skills at Harvard, where he wrote for a humor magazine.

Conan's love for comedy took him to Los Angeles and after writing a few comedy shows there, he then headed to New York to work on episodes of Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons.

Conan then hosted the talk show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, taking over from David Letterman, and the show was nominated and won the Emmy Award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series. The show also picked up a few other awards, one of which was the Writers Guild Award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series. He was also the host of The Tonight Show.
