It's Not Me, It's You: DreamWorks Gets Dumped by Universal
Universal Studios released a statement on Friday telling the world of its break with DreamWorks. After only five months, Universal cited financial reasons, saying "demanded material changes to previously agreed upon terms" was a major cause for the split. As with all breakups, Universal had some nice parting words for DreamWorks: "We wish them luck in their pursuit . . . of their future endeavors." This is the second company to "dump" DreamWorks, as Paramount split with DW before their partnering up with Universal. DreamWorks is now once again on the market, quite literally, as it scrambles to find funding for its current and future projects. One possible match is thought to be Disney, which was one of the companies to court DreamWorks after their split with Paramount.
