It's Only Rock 'n Roll During the Super Bowl Halftime Show
When singer Paul McCartney took off his jacket during Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show, all he revealed was a long-sleeved, red T-shirt -- nothing even close to Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" at last year's show.
In what was to be a more family-friendly halftime show than in recent years, the former Beatle promised that he and his band would do what they did best -- play rock and roll. To kick off his four-song set, McCartney played "Drive my car" followed by "Get Back," "Live and let die" and "Hey Jude." The crowd waved lighters, sang along and jumped at the pyrotechnics and fireworks, but everyone's clothes stayed on.
Other PG-rated performances included country singers Gretchen Wilson and Charlie Daniels, hip-hop artists the Black Eyed Peas, and R&B legends Earth, Wind and Fire. R&B singer Alicia Keys sang "America the Beautiful" accompanied by students from the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, the alma mater of the late Ray Charles.
