Ja Rule, Lil Wayne Arrested on Gun Charges

The rappers got busted in separate incidents.

Rappers Ja Rule and Lil Wayne were arrested in Manhattan late Sunday on gun charges. The rappers were arrested during separate incidents after a Lil Wayne & Friends concert at the Beacon Theater on Broadway.

Ja Rule, real name Jeffrey Atkins, was pulled over in his Mercedes-Benz in the Upper West Side. Police said they found a loaded .40-caliber Taurus handgun inside the car. He was charged, along with two other men in the vehicle, with criminal gun possession.

An hour later, Lil Wayne was pulled over in his bus in Columbus Circle, where police found marijuana and the same type of handgun found in Ja Rule's car. The rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon as well as criminal possession of marijuana.

Both rappers posted bail and are expected back in court on Friday.
