Jack White Forms a New Band

Jack White has formed a new band, the Dead Weather.

According to MTV News, White Stripes and Raconteurs front man Jack White has formed a third band.

The band, called the Dead Weather, features White on drums and vocals, Alison Mosshart of the Kills on vocals, Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs on bass and Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age on guitar.

The band made its debut Wednesday night for a private party in Nashville, Tenn. The party had 150 invited guests according to the Web site of Jack White's new label, Third Man Records. White used the show to unveil the label's new offices, record store, photo studio and performance stage in Studio City.

The show included songs from their forthcoming debut album, Horehound, which White produced and is slated for release sometime in June. The album was recorded at the Third Man Records studio in about three weeks.

Notable names who attended included Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride and Meg White. Guests exchanged invitations for limited-edition, seven-inch vinyl pressings of the band's first single, "Hang You from the Heavens."

The 150 singles were hand-painted by the band's members and the singles also included photo-booth pictures of all the band's members. Both songs are now available only on iTunes.

The White Stripes, Jack White's original band, have not toured since 2007 when they canceled dates following Meg White suffering from a bout of acute anxiety. It's unknown how the formation of this new band will affect the Grammy-winning duo's future. The group, which has reportedly been working on some new material, has not released an album since 2007's Icky Thump. However, they did give a shaky performance on the February finale of Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
