Jack White Peeved with the Internet
We could really blame all of our problems on technology if we wanted to, but Jack White just blames it for ruining music. The White Stripes guitarist claims the Web forced his recent pet project, the Dead Weather, to the mainstream way too fast, according to Rolling Stone.
White has never been a fan of the technological advances recording equipment has received over the years and has made an effort to avoid such devices at all costs. He even recorded the White Stripes latest album, "Icky Thump," using a rare 2-inch tape machine and pre-1963 analog equipment before that for "Elephants." Imperfection is what White strives for with simplistic recording equipment and blames the need for every band to own a MySpace page for the Dead Weather's forceful entry into the world.
"If not for the Internet, we would have loved to have done six months of small clubs down south to really build up what we are and discover what we are," said White of the Dead Weather.
The Dead Weather's debut album, "Horehound," is due for release July 14 and sure to please White Stripes fans who love the musical flaws for which White has come to be known.
