Traditional Chinese ceremony kicked off reboot of series.

If Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith have their way, a whole new generation of kids will learn the phrase, "wax on, wax off."

According to Daily Variety, Chan and the co-star of "The Pursuit of Happyness" have recently begun shooting scenes for "The Kung Fu Kid."

In a traditional Chinese ceremony in Beijing marking the beginning of the film, Chan, Jaden Smith, Smith's father, Will Smith, and director Harold Zwart, of "One Night at McCool's" fame, burned incense sticks and unveiled a camera from behind a symbolic red cloth.

Video of the occasion was reportedly posted on Chinese language site sina.com; however, a cursory search of the site shows no evidence of any video from the ceremony. A search for photos on the Chinese Film Group Web site purportedly shows the Smiths and Zwart at the ceremony, but a Google search was unable to turn them up.

However, several photos on the Web document the Smiths' presence in Beijing. One such set on popSugar.com shows Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith escorting Jaden through the city. A self-described "scrapbook" on Chan's official Web site also show Jaden, Will Smith and Chan at a Q and A for the movie. Chan's photo set also shows the trio also posed with youths in traditional Chinese dress.

According to producer Ken Stovitz, the film will be set in China. Production will last three months.

The film is just the latest in a string for Chan and Jaden. The 55-year-old martial arts actor is set to star in "The Spy Next Door," a comedy about a Chinese government agent whose cover is blown, and "Big Soldier," a film about two men in the Qin Dynasty who strike a friendship.

"Big Soldier" wraps up in 2010.
