Jackson Family Tried To Intervene

Attempts to intervene were quickly diffused.

Janet Jackson reportedly posed an intervention in 2007 in attempt to confront her brother Michael Jackson about his addiction to painkillers, reports Rolling Stone.

According to the report, sources told CNN that Janet enlisted the help of her brothers to support the attempted intervention. However, the "King of Pop's" bodyguards refused to let the family enter the property quickly diffusing the alleged intervention. The report also said Jackson refused to accept phone calls from his mother Katherine.

People previously reported an attempted intervention in 2006, supposedly taking place in Las Vegas. Siblings Randy, Jackie, and Rebbie were involved, along with his sister Janet accompanying on the telephone. After discussion of Michael's suspected abuse with prescription drugs, "Michael got pissed off. He said he wasn't on drugs. But they didn't believe him," an insider of the Jackson family told People.

Jackson's sudden death has brought the entertainer's use of prescription medications into the spotlight. The Jackson's family allegedly suspected Michael was abusing, but could not find a way to get through to their loved one.

"If you tried to deal with him, he would shut you out. You just wouldn't hear from him for long periods," CNN reported.
