Jackson Gives Tribute in Opening of VMAs

This year will be known in the pop culture world as the infamous year Michael Jackson died, but the memory of the pop king will live on in his sister Janet, 43 at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 13.

As a memorial, nydailynews.com states that the dancers hired to perform with the late megastar at his "This Is It" tour are to join Janet Jackson on stage during her appearance.

Along with Jackson's tribute, MTV will show the trailer for "This Is It," the documentary made about Michael Jackson's journey in preparing for his final concert. The film will actually open in theaters around the world on October 28. Rollingstone.com also announces that a new Jackson song will be included in the dvd.

The network owes so much of its name and framework to artists like Jackson, and attributing its opening act of 2009 to him is indeed fitting.
