Jackson Memorial at the Staples Center?

Police sources have said they are making preparations for a massive public memorial for Michael Jackson Tuesday morning at Staples Center.

On Wednesday night, officers closed Chick Hearn Court, the street that runs in front of the downtown center, in anticipation of early crowds that could line up for a service. Earlier in the day, members of the Jackson family met with officials from the Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol about funeral services.

It had previously been rumored that a service for the public would take place at Neverland Ranch. According to Fox News, the elimination of this as a possibility came as a surprise to many Jackson fans that had already arrived at the estate, some even camping out in tents, in hopes of attending the viewing.

The event at the Staples Center will probably take place at 10 a.m. It isn't immediately clear if a funeral or public memorial was being discussed. Sources close to discussion say that all talks are preliminary and no decisions have been made.
