Jackson Memorial Tickets Odds Poor

Thousands have entered to receive free tickets to watch the memorial for the "King of Pop."

More than 500,000 people have headed to StaplesCenter.com for their chance to score tickets to the Michael Jackson memorial to be held at the center in Los Angeles on Tuesday, according to the Washington Post.

According to the Associated Press, memorial service organizers will give out 11,000 for the actual event in the Staples Center, while they hand out 6,500 for a live feed in the Nokia Theatre across the street. Officials are making it very clear that if you don't have a ticket to Tuesday's memorial, you should stay at home. There will be no outside broadcast of happenings inside the center.

TMZ.com has estimated that about 71,500 people per hour have entered the lottery. If that rate continues, that means a total of 2.3 million people will sign up to get tickets by the time the lottery closes, Saturday.

Only 8,750 people (two tickets each) will obtain passes once the drawing is complete. That said, the odds of getting a ticket—either at the Staples Center or the Nokia Theatre—are 0.4 percent.
