Over Katherine Jackson's objections, a judge has made the approval deal between the estate of the King of Pop and a promoter in order to exhibit his memorabilia. The deal was approved by Judge Mitchell Beckloff from the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday. It's expected to earn Michael's estate up to about $6 million.
After a four hour hearing of closed door testimony, the judge said that there was "no question in my mind this agreement is in the best interest of the estate." Judge Beckloff noted Katherine's lawyers presented a less reasonable alternative, alluding to mention a company that might have handled the exhibitions that was starting up in the area of the Middle East. "The most foolhardy thing the administrators could do is connect with some start-up company from the Middle East," said Judge Beckloff.
The exhibition will be opening in London at O2 Arena, where Michael was scheduled to do his "This Is It" tour in the summer. "I think everybody is going to be thrilled with the results. It will be great to celebrate this man's legacy," said the President and CEO of Arts and Exhibitions International, John Norman.
