Jacobs Comes Out on Top During Fashion Week
Marc Jacobs raised the bar for fashion designers everywhere Monday night as New York Fashion Week entered its fifth night. Stars such as Madonna were in attendance to "ooh" and "ahh" at the designs strutting down the catwalk.
According to the Associated Press, Jacobs was dishing out designs that many designers wouldn't have even dreamed up for at least another two seasons. Jacobs' designs had an emphasis on femininity, from mid-calf pencil skirts, pointelle sweaters, ruffles and pearl-accented pieces.
He also took a bit of inspiration from the military by creating such-inspired jackets that are meant to be worn with skinny jeans or full skirts. These inspirations portray strong, bold women who also have a soft, feminine side. But just as Jacobs garners inspiration from many different avenues, he himself delivers that same inspiration to his fans. "He is so incredibly influential with so many people," said stylist Rachel Zoe at the event.
Only time will tell if his designs at Fashion Week will be a hit among consumers, especially since his models were seen taking small, stiff steps down the runway as they were showing off his styles.
