Jake Pavelka to pilot The Bachelor!

Buckle your seatbelts ladies, ABC's new Bachelor has been chosen: Jake Pavelka!

On a reality show where roses have become more a sign of relationship doom than bloom, viewers better locate their airbags: pilot Jake Pavelka is about to get aboard. After being bumped off by bachelorette Jillian Harris on the last season of The Bachelorette, ABC is bringing the 31-year-old Texan commercial plane captain back to the air—television, that is— and placing him in syndication's pilot seat. That's right, on last night's "Dancing with the Stars" ABC announced that the very cute Jake Pavelka is en route to becoming ABC's next Bachelor!

According to ABC's press release, "Ever since Jake, 31, shared a magical one-on-one date with Bachelorette Jillian Harris to see Martina McBride, millions of women have had their 'Top Gun' fantasies about him. A fan favorite for his reputation as an honest guy with an open heart -- not to mention his good looks -- viewers were stunned when Jillian rejected Jake right before the hometown dates on last season's "The Bachelorette."

Of the man who outed a fellow contestant as having a girlfriend when vying for Harris's heart, continues ABC, "Women were drawn to him even more when Jake returned of his own accord in the next episode to protect Jillian from men who were not there for the right reasons. Jake -- who already knew Jillian would not take him back -- freely shared and showed his emotions, and that's when the requests for Jake to be the next Bachelor started to pour in."

Subtitled "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love," the reality show is scheduled to start production momentarily. So curl up with your peanuts, be sure to score a blanket, and maybe even take a little Dramamine—after all, there has never been a season of The Bachelor without a whole lot of turbulence. And while critics may debate Pavelka's appeal, at the very least, this is one bachelor used to pressure.
