James Franco to Join the Cast of General Hospital

In an unexpected career move "Spiderman" and "Pineapple Express" star James Franco will be joining the cast of in the long-running ABC soap opera, "General Hospital" reports MTV.com

The 46-year-old program will introduce Franco's character beginning November 20th, in a story-arc that is expected to take place over two months.

Jill Farren, executive producer of the notoriously over the top day-time program has said to the USA Today that "It's an honor that an actor of Franco's caliber would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles." The fictional town in reference is, of course, the setting for "General Hospital."

Very little has been confirmed thus far concerning the character Franco will play. Tight-lips have surrounded the production, wowever, Jori Peterson from ABC day-time has commented that "The only thing I can tell you about his character right now is he is playing a mysterious person who comes to Port Charles who will be Jason Morgan's worst nightmare."

Reports SoapNet, it was Franco who approached producer's of the show with interest in a role.
