Jay Leno's Kimmel Impersonation
On Monday, Jay Leno impersonated Jimmy Kimmel, who posed as a reporter last week at a press tour, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Last week, Kimmel questioned Steve McPherson, ABC's President of Entertainment, about the fate of his show after rumors that ABC wanted to recruit Jay Leno after his Tonight Show stint ends in May have been circling around.
Leno, in turn, impersonated Kimmel's impersonation, showing up, baldheaded and disguised at an NBC executive session. His joke, however, didn't give the impression he had hoped because he was so unrecognizable.
NBC announced that Leno, who will be leaving the Tonight Show, will be replaced by Conan O'Brien, leaving Leno on the market.
While ABC may be interested and pointed out that they have room for both Leno and Kimmel on the network, says the Los Angeles Times, NBC is not letting go yet.
"When we made the deal with Jay four years ago, we made a long-term deal with him," said Marco Graboff, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media. "We've been talking to him pretty much that whole time about the future beyond the Tonight Show. We can't force him to do something. We're presenting him with a number of opportunities that we think will be great and we're hoping that he eventually thinks will be great as well."
