Jeff Goldblum Replacing "Mr. Big" on Law and Order

The Sex and the City star will not join "Criminal Intent" in its eighth season.

After three seasons of playing Detective Mike Logan on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Sex & the City star Chris Noth will be replaced with Jeff Goldblum this fall, AP News reports.

"Chris has been a member of the Law & Order family since the beginning," executive producer Dick Wolf said in a statement, "and Mike Logan is one of the most popular detectives in the history of television."

Criminal Intent, which airs on USA Network, is part of the Law & Order family of shows that also includes Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Noth began his role as Detective Mike Logan on the original Law & Order series in 1990.

The Criminal Intent series originally aired on NBC along with the other Law & Order titles, but moved to USA last season.

Goldblum, 56, is famous for his roles in films such as The Fly, Jurassic Park, and Independence Day. He will join actors Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian on Criminal Intent in the fall.
