At the 54th Annual Grammy’s, Jennifer Hudson will pay tribute to the iconic musical legend that Whitney Houston once was.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that although the news of her death only happened over the weekend, Hudson will pay musical tribute to her idol. In a pre-Grammy interview, and prior to hearing the news of Houston’s death, Hudson expressed the impact that Houston has on her career.
Houston actually presented Hudson with her first Grammy. Hudson remembers that meeting Houston "almost overshadowed getting the Grammy."
Ken Ehrlich, Grammy Awards' executive producer, commented on the loss of Whitney Houston on the eve of the Grammys. He states, “We are all pretty devastated. It hit us pretty hard. A lot of us who worked on the show worked with her a number of times, so it's a very sad day for us and it's going to be tough to recover from."
Ehrlich discussed having Jennifer Hudson pay tribute to Houston by stating, "She's a good friend of the Grammys. She's had some very significant appearances on the show. It felt right to ask to her to come and help us honor Whitney, which she will do musically."
Despite the pain, Ehrlich notes that the show “must go on.”
