Jerry Lewis recovering after heart scare

Jerry Lewis suffers "mild" heart attack on cross-country flight

Comedian Jerry Lewis is recovering in a hospital, days after experiencing a "mild" heart attack according to the Associated Press.

Lewis was on a cross-country flight when the ailment struck. When the plane landed in San Diego he was taken directly to the hospital.

"At present, he is under hospital care and is expected to make a full recovery," Candi Cazau, spokeswoman for the Orleans hotel-casino in Las Vegas told the AP. Lewis was scheduled to perform at the casino July 13-16, but postponed the appearance.

However, this is not the first battle with heart problems for Lewis. In 1982 he was pronounced "critically dead" after a massive heart attack.

The 80-year-old comedic legend appeared in films such as "The Nutty Professor" and hosts the annual Labor Day telethon for Muscular Dystrophy Association. He also announced plans to turn "The Nutty Professor" into a musical set to open in late 2008.
