Jessica Simpson Dating Former NFL Tight End Eric Johnson

The love life of pop singer and reality television star Jessica Simpson has been well-documented over the years. MTV’s Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica reality show followed Simpson and her ex-husband, 98 Degrees frontman Nick Lachey, from 2003-2005 during the early-mid stages of their marriage. Simpson began dating fellow recording artist John Mayer in 2006 and although their relationship lasted for just a year, he made shockwaves in the celebrity media earlier this year when he described his relationship with her as “sexual napalm.”

Simpson also dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo for just over a year-and-a-half from November 2007 through July 2009. According to Right Celebrity, the 29-year-old singer has moved on to another football player. Simpson is reportedly dating former San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints tight end Eric Johnson, who played in the NFL from 2001-2007. A source close to the couple has informed TMZ that they are “very happy” together.

Johnson played with the 49ers from 2001-2006 before signing with the Saints in 2007. Although he was a reserve contributor for most of his career, Johnson had an impressive campaign in 2004 when he recorded 82 receptions for 825 yards and two touchdowns. However, he sustained a season-ending injury for the second time in his career in 2005 and San Francisco drafted future Pro Bowl tight end Vernon Davis in the 2006 NFL Draft to replace him.
