Jessica Simpson gives reality TV another go
Six years after starring on MTV's breakout reality show hit, "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica," Jessica Simpson is set to star in a VH1 reality series entitled "Price of Beauty."
According to a HollywoodReporter.com article, "'The Price of Beauty,' a docu-series produced by RDF USA, will feature Simpson traveling the world to meet every day women as well as some local pop culture icons."
Simpson and her father, Joe Simpson, will executive produce the show along with Chris Coelen, Claire O'Donohoe and Greg Goldman for RDF USA and Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes, Alex Demyanenko and Sean Boyle from VH1.
"I am really looking forward to discovering how beauty is perceived in different cultures and participating in some of the crazy things people do to feel beautiful," Simpson said. "I know we will all learn a lot on this journey."
The series is set to begin shooting in mid-July and according to an article on Variety.com, "Series is targeted to run some time in 2010."
"Perhaps more than any other pop culture figure on the radar today, Jessica Simpson has been the target of our obsession with beauty on both sides of the equation," said Olde, who is the executive vice president of VH1 Original Programming & Production.
Besides her career as a pop star, Simpson has starred in such features films as the 2008 Mike Myers comedy, "The Love Guru," the 2006 romantic comedy, "Employee of the Month," and she portrayed the character of "Daisy Duke" in the 2005 action adventure comedy, "The Dukes of Hazzard," based on the 1975 popular sitcom of the same name. Simpson co-starred with the co-creator and star of the MTV series, "Jackass," Johnny Knoxville, and actor Seann William Scott.
