The New York Times reports that The New York Jets and former Jets coach Eric Mangini are being fined by the NFL for not listing former Jets quarterback Brett Favre on the injury report last season. The team is being fined $75,000 and Mangini is being fined $25,000, as is Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.According to the Associated Press, since hiding injuries can affect a team's preparation for its opponent, the NFL has made a conscious effort to cut down on such practices.
The Washington Post states that the fines were assessed by Ray Anderson, the NFL's executive vice president of football operations, for "violations of the league's injury reporting policy by the New York Jets last season," the league announced.
