Jets Starting Sanchez
ESPN is reporting that rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez will start for the New York Jets in their season opener on September 13 at Houston against the Houston Texans.
Sanchez has been competing with quarterback Kellen Clemens for the starting job since training camp.
"I feel that the best move for our franchise and our team is to go with Mark as our quarterback," Jets rookie head coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday.
In a poll taken by the New York Daily News, 52 percent of voters felt Sanchez was the best candidate, while only 11 percent sided with Clemens. The remaining 37 percent voted for "Let's just hope Rex Ryan's defense is as good as advertised."
According to the Washington Post, Rex Ryan is hoping Sanchez can mimic the rookie successes last year of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryand and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.
