Jim Carrey Brings Scrooge to the Big Screen

The actor will portray Scrooge in the new Disney film.

Comedic actor Jim Carrey knows a thing or two about playing a character who lacks Christmas spirit. In 2000, Carrey donned green makeup to become the infamous Dr. Seuss character, the Grinch. Carrey is at it again, this time portraying another Christmas humbug, Ebenezer Scrooge, in Disney's 3-D animated film, A Christmas Carol.

"One of the things I really wanted to capture with the character is the bitterness, the effect of a life without love. It forms you. It forms your face; it forms your body," Carrey said about his character at the opening of the film's promotional train tour.

To promote the film, Carrey and director Robert Zemeckis are embarking upon a 40-city, cross-country train tour this summer. The film marks the first time Zemeckis has worked with Disney since 1988's Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Disney's A Christmas Carol hits theaters on Nov. 6.
