Willow Smith better watch out, there’s another celebrity kid singer moving into town.
Fox News reported Jim Carrey’s daughter, Jane, auditioned for American Idol’s eleventh season, and on Sunday’s episode, viewers saw judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler give the 24-year-old a golden ticket to Hollywood Week.
While Jane did receive some constructive criticism from the panel about the volume of her voice and performance, it was definitely apparent that the girl had some good pipes on her.
According to Us Weekly, she sang “Something to Talk About” at the San Diego auditions and spoke about what it is like living under the “big shadow” of her celebrity father.
"The last name definitely helps and hurts. There's this pressure to be better because if I make it somewhere, I run the risk of people saying 'you only got there because of [your name],’” she said. "I'm here to make my place in the world."
But the second people realized who she was, Jane was stuck in the middle of a conversation about her father.
Heading into the judges' room to sing for Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez, Jane was bashful when Lopez recalled meeting her as a child on set when she worked on In Living Color with her dad.
"You remember me? I was one of the Fly Girls?!" Lopez exclaimed, explaining to Jane that she worked with her father on In Living Color back in the day.
Her audition then ended with her father, who she called right after receiving the good news.
Carrey was unsurprisingly very proud.
"She's so wonderful and amazing to me," the 49-year-old Dumb and Dumber star told Ryan Seacrest while on speakerphone.
"I can't wait for the world to understand what she has inside of her. This is going to be a fantastic year."
