Joe Simpson Expresses Excitement Over Daughter's Engagement via Twitter

Joe Simpson, father of singer Jessica Simpson, had some encouraging words for his daughter. According to People, Simpson said he wished the couple a "lifetime of happiness."

Jessica Simpson recently became engaged to her football-player boyfriend Eric Johnson last week. The pair had been dating for five months.

On Twitter, the father of the soon-to-be-wed Simpson posted his congratulations: "So very happy for Jess and Eric. May they have a lifetime of joy and happiness."

The singer has said that Johnson is "very supportive," and that she "couldn't ask for a better man in [her] life."

At a Thanksgiving PBS special, Simpson--who was joined by the two men in her life-- gushed about her relationship, saying that it was "just very normal, thank God."
