John Edwards Admits to Fathering Illegitimate Child

Former senator and Democratic Presidential-hopeful John Edwards has admitted to news sources that he is, in fact, the father of filmmaker Reille Hunter's daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter. Born on February 27, 2008, the little girl was conceived in mid-2007, soon after Hunter left Edwards' campaign for the Presidency.

Edwards told news sources "I am Quinn's father," and that he hoped the little girl could one day forgive him for his ever denying it.

His wife, Elizabeth, expressed relief about his admission and that she hoped it would "help end the publicity around the family's matters." Elizabeth has been suffering from a recurrence of cancer since March 2007, which is incurable but treatable, meaning the former senator had the affair during this tough time.

He has stated that he would continue to support Hunt and their daughter. "To all those I have disappointed and hurt, these words will never be enough, but I am truly sorry."
