John Lennon’s Killer Denied Parole for the Sixth Time

Mark David Chapman, the man responsible for the brutal shooting of rock icon John Lennon, was denied parole for the sixth time since his incarceration for the murder.

On December 8, 1980, Chapman shot down Lennon in front of his wife, Yoko Ono, while they were standing in front of their New York City apartment. Chapman was convicted and has been incarcerated for 29 years at the maximum-security Attica Correctional Facility.

Chapman spends most of his days in prison doing housework and spending time in the library.

The 3-member panel of officers on the New York State Division of Parole recently conducted video conference interviews with the inmate for their analysis.

They concluded that Chapman’s disregard for societal norms and disrespect for human life disqualify him for parole release.

Yoko Ono is known to have written a letter to the parole board requesting Chapman’s parole be denied.

Chapman will next be eligible for parole in August of 2012.
