John Lennon Not So Peaceful, Says Ex

Cynthia Lennon, ex-wife of the late Beatle, has written a memoir in which she discloses the darker side of John Lennon, reports the Can West News Service.

Excerpts from the book, John, began appearing in the London Sunday Times over the weekend, and will be published at the end of the month.

The memoir describes bouts of jealousy, temper-tantrums and mood swings, according to the news service, and even relates incidents in which the peace icon of the 20th Century is prone to acts of violence.

"I discovered that John's temper could be frightening," writes Ms. Lennon. "He wanted proof, daily, that he mattered most to me...then he was back to his usual self, apologetic and loving."

The two were married from 1962 until 1968, and had one son, Julian, together
