Meghan McCain, the daughter of Arizona senator and former presidential nominee John McCain, is joining MSNBC as a paid contributor.

McCain has made guest appearances on the network since 2009, but she will now be a salaried participant. She is also a columnist for The Daily Beast, where she writes about topics such as social issues and marriage equality. On Monday, McCain made her first paid appearance on NOW with Alex Wagner.

"I couldn't more be excited to be joining the MSNBC family,” said McCain. “It's a unique opportunity to share my perspective as a Republican on a network I respect and have built a relationship with over the past two years."

McCain is not the only daughter of politicians to become an active contributor to NBC. A week ago, Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton, joined the network as a special correspondent. Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush, is a contributor to NBC’s Today show.

McCain has had much experience in the news industry. She worked for Newsweek and the NBC series Saturday Night Live while in college. During her father’s presidential campaign, she wrote the books Dirty Sexy Politics and My Dad, John McCain.
