Country singer John Rich, a member of the duo Big & Rich, was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight Monday after a crew member believed he was too drunk to make the flight from Las Vegas to Nashville.
TMZ reported that Rich’s flight was scheduled to leave at 10:50 a.m. Before even boarding the plane, Rich got into an argument with passengers. He continued to show drunken behavior as the flight began boarding.
The crew then decided that they could not allow Rich to stay on the plane. He was actually cooperative when asked to leave.
According to Ace Show Biz, Southwest confirmed the incident, although they refused to name the former Celebrity Apprentice winner as the passenger. "Our crew assessed the situation and determined that the passenger was not fit for travel. The decision was based on governing federal aviation (FAA) regulations that our crew must follow,” the statement read.
Southwest added in the statement that the “customer” was rebooked for another flight out of Las Vegas by the airline, but decided to go with another service. They also confirmed that the customer was given a refund. “Our Employees are responsible for the safety and comfort of everyone onboard a flight. If we can mitigate an uncomfortable situation prior to departure, it is our preference to do so and that is what happened in this scenario,” the statement continued.
Rich’s representative denied that he was involved in an altercation. However, as TMZ notes, the representative would not comment about Rich being kicked off.
